Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Tannat is one of a rare family of grapes designated as ‘Teinturiers’. The teinturier grapes have the combination of a dark purple skin and black flesh, resulting in wines that are concentrated in color and tannin structure. This unique grape has found a perfect home in the Texas terroir due to it’s hardy nature and the 2017 vintage has a robust bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, cola and soft leather while the palate is full bodied and austerely complex. Firm tannins and high acidity lend to a surprisingly elegant finish.
Food Pairing Notes
The firm tannin structure is best paired with fat and protein. A well-marbled cut of meat, pasta with cream sauce or triple cream cheese will make this wine luscious and round on the palate.
